There is a new website which is managed by the team at Veterans Scotland and is dedicated to providing first- hand information on a range of issues that can impact on Veterans.
Have received the following plea from Chief Executive Officer:
“Well now that Annual Conference is out of the way. The rest of the Legion work continues rapidly. As I mentioned during my speech to conference we are shortly (10-17 June) launching the Voices of Veterans campaign. To make it work and get some strong and highly targeted features in national papers, we need at least case study to be a face of the campaign. Can you start thinking about this and ask around within your Area and come back to me with nominations as soon as possible.
Ideally, we could use two including one older veteran (50+) and one younger ex service person (man or woman) who have interesting stories to share. They need to be happy to talk about their experience in forces, life after the forces, and to be identified in media, named and photographed. Very importantly then need to be around for any media interviews if we get interest during two weeks of the launch and pitching to the media – weeks commencing the 10 and 17 June.
May I ask you to provide two individuals from each Area this will allow us to have a group to pick from as outlined above.
This really is the start of everything that has been discussed recently and I welcome the assistance of you all.”
NEW SUBJECT – In view of the above plea received today can I ask the Area Executive and Branch Secretaries to try and provide the individuals asked for by Kevin Gray. This is all part of raising the profile of the RBLS to the public out there and would like replies by 4th June at the latest – to meet the deadline.
As Secretary of the Royal British Legion Scotland Portobello Branch, I have the pleasure to announce to you that as of Thursday 13th August 2015 the trustees for the Branch have successfully negotiated the purchase of the Rockville House Hotel for the purpose of being used as Legion Scotland Portobello Branch's Headquarters and we are open for business with immediate effect.
We look forward to welcoming you to our new premises so come and pay us a visit, whether it be for a stay in one of our luxurious rooms, a meal at our sea view restaurant or just for a drink and a catch up at our bar, you will be made more than welcome.
